Museumkwartier, Amsterdam

RESIDENTIAL

Central to the design for this home in Amsterdam's Museumkwartier area was the illumination of, how could it be otherwise, art.

Each artwork called for its own carefully chosen solution, suited to the piece and its position within the space.

In project Museumkwartier, art forms the starting point for the lighting design.

The lighting design focuses on the quality and experience of light itself. Each artwork required its own approach - from soft grazing light and even wall illumination to precise accents and subtle beams.

During product selection, particular focus was placed on the quality of light and the visual comfort of the luminaires. The aesthetic challenge lay in working with surface-mounted lighting, combined with limited scope for repositioning light points.

The outcome is a space where the art draws the eye with quiet confidence, and a serene yet exciting atmosphere can be felt, both by day and by night.
